The Darchei Noam Congregation Podcast

Welcome to the official podcast of Darchei Noam Congregation, where ancient paths meet present-day purpose. Each week, we share Spirit-filled Shabbat teachings rooted in the Torah, the Prophets, and the New Covenant—revealing the unity of Scripture through the lens of Yeshua the Messiah. Our monthly seminars go deeper, addressing foundational topics such as replacement theology, covenant identity, and reconciliation between Jewish and Gentile believers. Whether you’re part of the remnant in Israel or the nations, we invite you to grow with us in truth, humility, and hope as we prepare the way for the return of our King. “Stand at the crossroads and look… ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.” —Jeremiah 6:16

In Parashat Bo, the final plagues are not only acts of judgment—they are a direct confrontation with the gods of the ancient Near East. This teaching explores how Egyptian deities, imperial power, and religious worldview shaped daily life in Egypt, and how those beliefs would have influenced the Israelites after centuries of living there. By placing the Exodus story in its ancient cultural and historical context, we see how Adonai reveals Himself as utterly distinct from all other powers—and begins to re-form Israel’s identity as a free people who serve Him alone.

Along with this week's Parashat Va’era (Exodus 6:2–9:35), we also read the Haftarah from Ezekiel 28:25–29:21.
The haftarah is meant to function like an ancient commentary on the Torah portion, and in this one Ezekiel speaks a strong prophetic word against Egypt, echoing the same theme as the plagues: Adonai is making Himself known in history.

In this episode, we begin the book of Shemot using the Literal Translation of Exodus by David and Binyamin Friedman. Staying close to the Hebrew text helps us notice how the story actually unfolds.
Parashat Shemot begins with names, growth, and a shift in power in Egypt. We’ll look at how fear takes hold, how leadership begins to form, and how Hashem starts working within history—before redemption appears.

In this monthly Seminar, we listen to Rav Shaul’s prophetic warning to the nations—The voice of a Torah-Faithful Jew the Nations must not ignore. Long before the consequences were visible, Shaul saw a danger forming.  His warning to the nations is not harsh, but merciful: a call to remember the root that bears us, to resist arrogance, and to walk humbly as G-d’s purposes unfold in history.

In Parashat Vayechi we reflect on the lives of Jacob and Joseph, and on God’s good purposes unfolding through struggle, faith, and blessing. Even in exile and at life’s end, His goodness carries forward from one generation to the next.

In Vayigash, we reach the point where vulnerability becomes the path to redemption. Judah steps forward and offers himself in place of his brother, and at that moment Yosef can no longer keep his emotions contained. His tears break the tension, his hidden identity is revealed, and reconciliation can finally begin.
This teaching focuses on those tears—what they cost Yosef, what they show about his brothers, and why the Torah chose to record them. It looks at leadership that does not suppress pain, forgiv pay attention—not only to what is said, but also to what is expressed through tears.

In Parashat Miketz, we meet Yosef not as a dreamer but as a man transformed by suffering, raised from a forgotten prison to the right hand of Pharaoh in a single moment—because the Spirit of God was with him. His journey is a reminder that Adonai can shift a life, a nation, or a season “at the end”—miketz—precisely when hope seems out of reach. As famine begins to grip the world, God positions Yosef to preserve life, reconcile what was broken, and awaken his brothers to teshuvah. This portion invites us to consider how God works beneath the surface of our own crises, how He prepares salvation before the need appears, and how He uses unlikely vessels to bring redemption. Yosef’s story calls us to trust in the God who remembers, redeems, and raises up deliverance in His perfect time.

In this episode, we uncover why this hidden story sits at the center of Parashat Vayeshev—and how one brave act and one honest confession, “She is more righteous than I,” becomes the turning point for Judah, for Israel, and for the line of Messiah.
The Torah portion reminds us that Adonai often works through broken families, hard truths, and moments we’d rather skip—because that’s where real redemption begins.

On 29 November 1947, as the United Nations voted to partition the Land of Israel, Jewish communities celebrated the opening of the door to statehood after nearly two thousand years of exile. Yet beneath the political drama, a deeper story was unfolding. That same Shabbat, Israel read Torah portions describing Jacob’s return to the Land, and in Jerusalem, the first fragments of the Dead Sea Scrolls— including the scroll of Isaiah—came into Jewish hands. In this episode, we revisit 29 November 1947 not only as a political milestone, but as a prophetic convergence of history, Scripture, and covenant, revealing G-d’s faithfulness to Israel and why this day still speaks powerfully to our generation.
