Parashat Vayigash: Yosef’s Tears

In Vayigash, we reach the point where vulnerability becomes the path to redemption. Judah steps forward and offers himself in place of his brother, and at that moment Yosef can no longer keep his emotions contained. His tears break the tension, his hidden identity is revealed, and reconciliation can finally begin.

This teaching focuses on those tears—what they cost Yosef, what they show about his brothers, and why the Torah chose to record them. It looks at leadership that does not suppress pain, forgiv pay attention—not only to what is said, but also to what is expressed through tears.
